Our Story
Five centuries of hospitality in the heart of Suffolk
A 16th-Century Heritage
Originally built as a house between 1580 and 1620, this remarkable timber-framed building stood witness to the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. In the 1800s, it was transformed into a coaching inn, serving travelers on the rural Suffolk roads and becoming a vital hub for the local community.
Our timber-framed structure, with its distinctive exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces, tells stories of Tudor and Stuart craftsmanship. The wattle and daub walls, carefully preserved during our recent restoration, bear witness to the skilled hands that built them over 400 years ago.
